Component Engineer

Permanent position: A Component Engineer is needed for a full time direct hire opportunity at a leading defense company in the Woburn, MA area. The ideal candidate will have their Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering/Technical field and 6+ years related experience in component engineering and developing obsolescence mitigation options. Responsibilities for the Component Engineer

  • Monitoring program systems to identify obsolescence risks, investigating potential mitigations for obsolete and near obsolete parts

  • Investigating potential mitigations for obsolete and near obsolete parts

  • Reporting system obsolescence health statistics and maintaining various obsolescence databases

  • Supporting Obsolescence Management Working groups and Integrated Product teams

  • Responsibilities may also include financial reporting such as earned value management, workload planning, and support to proposal efforts

Requirements for the Component Engineer

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Personnel Security Clearance ('PCL') from the U.S. Government, which are only issued to U.S. Citizens

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or Technical Discipline (STEM) with 6+ years related experience

  • Experience in developing obsolescence mitigation options and reading engineering drawings

  • Background in component engineering, including guiding component selection

  • Experience with product and procurement management systems such as: PTC Windchill (PDM) and SAP PRISM

  • Experience with 'data mining' solutions such as SiliconExpert and IHS CAPS Universe

  • Proficient with the MS Office suite; specific competence with data analysis and manipulation using Excel and Access
