Project Engineer

Client involved in engineering & construction projects in the power generation industry has an immediate need for 2 Project Engineers to join their team near Houston. You need with 5-20 years of relevant power generation experience. * salary is commensurate with experience *

Responsibilities for the Project Engineer

  • Responsible for managing the engineering activities necessary to plan, design, license, construct and start-up power plants for capital projects

  • Act as a technical generalist in a variety of disciplines (equipment, civil, structural, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical)

  • Act as the overall coordinator for all internal and external engineering on projects as required

  • Travel 25% of the time to these power plant locations in order to trouble shoot and diagnose the problem that needs to be fixed

  • Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables

  • Help identify, evaluate and hire 3rd party Engineering Firms as needed throughout all phases of the project, and coordinate with internal technical functions

  • Support power plant capital projects ranging from 100k to 4 million dollars

Requirements for the Project Engineer

  • 5-25 years of engineering experience supporting power plant EPC and maintenance projects

  • You need 5+ years of specific experience as a Project Engineer, Construction Engineer, Design Engineer or Plant/Maintenance Engineer supporting combined cycle power plant capital projects

  • Broad understanding of the major design engineering disciplines, i.e., Piping, Equipment, Process, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, & Electrical

  • Client prefers candidates coming from an Engineering firm or OEM, but will consider Engineering candidates that are Plant Engineers or Maintenance Engineers in an operating power plant environment

  • A BSME degree is needed for this job

  • You need to have specific engineering or maitenance experience on all equipment outside of the gas & steam turbines (piping, condensors,

  • Advanced knowledge of a wide variety of design codes, standards, and processes for combined-cycle power plants
