Engineering client involved in heavy industrial engineering & construction projects is looking for a Logistics Coordinator for a 3-6 month assignment in Houston, TX in the Energy Corridor. You need 3-5 years of experience as a Logistics Coordinator responsible for the transportation of materials & large heavy industrial equipment being transported domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities for the Coordinator

  • Evaluate, procure and coordinate transportation and logistics services for domestic and international movements of equipment and materials used in the construction of heavy industrial plants

  • Prepare the logistics plan for the projects

  • Perform onsite logistics study, to ensure equipment can be transported into the jobsite

  • Facilitate national and international Market screens to obtain the necessary knowledge of the logistics market

  • Execute vendor pre-qualification and conduct competitive bidding for freight requirements

  • Negotiate rates & discounts for logistics contracts

  • Manage all shipping methods and deliveries to various vendor locations and job-sites

  • Evaluate, recommend, and execute requirements pertaining to international letters of credit

  • Prepare freight estimates, issue purchase requisitions and purchase orders for transportation services & process freight bills for payment

  • Coordinate shipments with suppliers and prepare freight documents (BOL, and packing lists)

  • Execute transportation requirements within budgetary guidelines

Requirements for the Coordinator

  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience coordinating the logistics of heavy industrial equipment in support of large engineering & construction projects

  • Expericne working for an EPC firm as a Transportation Specialist or Logistics Coordinator is ideal

  • Our client will also consider candidates that have experience working for a Freighting company vs working for an EPC

  • Experience with permit loads, heavy haul transportation and project shipping is needed

  • You need to be familiar with Incoterms relating to transportation of equipment

  • Any specific experience supporting oil & gas or refinery EPC projects is a PLUS
