Title: Process Development Engineer

Position Summary:

The Process Development Engineer will be responsible for developing of processes to fabricate custom dental implant abutments and associated components. The scope is global and includes the development of new processes, new product development, as well as product maintenance and process improvement activities.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, release and support legacy software applications for automating the manufacturing processes of the Atlantis custom abutment and associated products using VB.NET or C#

  • Support existing VB.NET applications

  • Provide troubleshooting support for local and global manufacturing sites

Skills Required:

  • Programming experience with VB.NET programming language

  • Experience with software automation using APIs

  • Direct experience with CAM software

  • SQL database experience

  • Experience with source code control and release documentation

  • Experience developing and supporting legacy software applications

  • CNC programming skills including turning and 5-axis programming of titanium

  • Experience in optimizing tool path for complex 3D shapes, feeds and speeds, cutting tool geometry, and part holding strategies

  • Advanced PC skills

  • Ability to communicate easily in written and spoken English

  • Ability to work in a team environment including remote collaboration

Background Requirements:

  • A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • A minimum of 10 year experience in high speed milling and process development

The Preferred Candidate:

  • Is someone who has worked in process development in the precision medical device industry and knows medical device design control and validation protocols

  • Should have work experience and a track record of accomplishment in an international multi-site business environment

  • Must be fully proficient in knowledge of materials (Ti & Zr) and manufacturing methods - screw machine processes, broaching, milling, 3D printing, AM, etc

  • Has specific experience with the following:

  1. High speed CNC milling of small medical devices

  2. Has worked with milling system controllers including Fanuc and Heidenhein

  3. Hands on experience with sequel db

  4. Use of CAM software and API s to drive 3 rd party CAM software in automated workflows (software services), preferably Powermill

  5. Has experience with vb.net and or c sharp programming

  6. Has experience using SolidWorks

  • Should have strong interpersonal skills including ability to coordinate development activities with stakeholders on a global basis
