MECHANICAL ENGINEER with background in heat treatment/furnaces/boilers with ACAD and either SolidWorks or Inventor is needed in Southwest Michigan, just north of South Bend, IN, for a manufacturing and design company. This is a full time direct hire position. Local candidates preferred. Relocation assistance is available. You will be responsible for planning and designing furnace and boiler products and systems. Responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer
Direct and coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair both mechanical and electromechanical aspects of furnace and boiler products and systems
Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Oversees the complete design, construction and testing processes, and researches the function and application of different types of mechanical components, heating and cooling processes, material handling techniques, control methods for liquids and gasses etc.
Participates in design reviews with design team members and reads and interprets technical materials, providing product support on the manufacturing floor.
Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems with consideration for cost, performance, materials, maintenance requirements, appearance and impact on the end user.
Performs calculations to predict performance of finished machine and use design software to generate designs, models and documentation
Requirements for the Mechanical Design Engineer
You must have a Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field
2-5 years of experience in the Heat Treat Furnace Industry
Must have strong ACAD skills and either SolidWorks or Inventor software
Must have understanding of electromechanical components and systems integration
You must be able to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, and to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
You must have strong verbal and presentation skills to effectively present information and respond to questions
Ability to solve practical problems and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
