Senior Accounting Manager

Publicly traded company in San Mateo seeking a Senior Accounting Manager for a 4 month contract. With direction from senior level accounting and finance leadership, this position manages the day-to-day activities of the organization s general ledger and accounts payable functions that includes maintenance and administration of the general accounting systems including upkeep of the general ledger, accounts payable sub ledger, consolidation of financial records and submission of accurate and timely data for financial reporting purposes.

Must have strong technical accounting skills and STRONG managerial skills. Needs to have managed a sizeable team. They ll be managing at least 7 people.

Senior Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Manages and coordinates day-to-day activities of the general ledger and fixed assets teams, to include developing goals and objectives and providing support and guidance for the team s professional growth.

  2. Coordinates assigned Finance projects/initiatives to best utilize resources within the Finance team to meet project objectives, and deliver quality customer service. Manages and oversees the activities of assigned projects to ensure that projects remain on track and are aligned with organizational objectives, including but not limited to schedules, budgets, and project methodology as set forth by the Controller/Assistant Controller.

  3. Lead the development and execution of Finance project specifications, objectives and plans for implementations and solutions for issues related to high risk or key accounts as well as highly complex projects. This entails interface with business partners and/or internal staff to produce functional specifications, design documents, and other blue prints for the project.

  4. Leads the teams in performing analysis and reconciliation of accounts for assigned areas of the balance sheet.

  5. Facilitates audit requests from external auditors to include issuing the request list to all internal business partners, ensuring compliance with level of service agreements with auditors and following up on outstanding issues.

  6. Ensures compliance with all control objectives and corporate policies related to general accounting systems and activities. This includes ensuring that internal divisions, business units and departments adhere to and maintain Company standards, proper accounting practices and controls, as well as maintaining and updating SOX documents to ensure compliance.

  7. Initiates human resource planning, selection and resource allocation activities that support the team s productivity and effectiveness. This includes responsibility for implementing and carrying out the personnel activities of the team such as hiring, training, evaluating, rewarding, motivating and taking corrective action as necessary.

  8. Assists senior accounting leadership with special projects as required or assigned. This may entail conducting research of authoritative literature for proper treatment of accounting topics and recommending appropriate action.
