A prominent international law firm in the Bay Area is in search of a Project Manager, Client Services that can collaborate with multiple levels in order to streamline workflow. As one of the largest firms in the world, we are in search of a Project Manager to provide hands-on support to the practice group through legal project management and collaboration with the practice group s attorneys and staff to ensure excellent, and continuously improving, service to the practice group s clients. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, takes initiative and is not intimidated by new experiences.

Position Summary: Duties of the Project Manager are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Actively support client-facing projects by coordinating work effort, scoping, planning, fee monitoring, status reporting, liaising with clients and tracking scope, budget and schedule changes. Includes preparation of simple to moderately complex project plans, graphic models of project timelines and work processes.

  • Under attorney guidance, execute approved project plans through effective and concise communication with attorneys, staff and clients via participation in meetings, written communication and collaborative software (i.e. SharePoint).

  • Closely monitor projects for timely delivery of work packages, adherence to project scope, quality of work and to confirm that fees are within/under budget. Under the direction of the sponsoring attorney, proactively work to control the elements of time, cost/fees and scope.

  • Interface with clients, as requested by managers and attorneys, via teleconference and email. Attend client conference calls and in-person meetings as requested. Correspond with clients, in a professional manner, as directed by the managers and attorneys.

  • Provide support to managers in the day-to-day operations of the practice group via appropriate coordination of people and tasks. Includes communication with attorneys and staff to ensure deliverables to the partners are satisfied timely and a variety of ad-hoc requests from managers.

  • Conduct analysis and produce reports (regular and ad-hoc) on staffing, workflow, productivity, work process and systems. Includes data analysis via analytic tools in spreadsheets as well as process and workflow mapping.

  • Manage any internal practice group projects assigned by the group s partners.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Communicate effectively across ranks and roles; strong inter-personal skills.

  • Excellent organizational and analytic abilities.

  • Advanced knowledge of project management principles.

  • Advanced Knowledge of related technology: e.g. Document Management Systems, Project Management Extranets, Case Management Systems (i.e. cloud based , TimeMatters, Compulaw, Prolaw), Microsoft Project and expertise in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

Requirements for the role:

  • BA or BS in a relevant field.

  • Project management experience in a Professional Services environment highly desired.

  • Formal project management qualification/certification, e.g. PMP or equivalent, preferred.

  • Three to five years working with C-Level management in a fast paced environment as a Project Manager or Project Coordinator.

  • Experience in, or extensive knowledge of, corporate finance, corporate governance, employee benefits/incentives as a corporate paralegal or Project Manager/is desirable.

Physical Requirements:

Walking; fine hand manipulation (heavy typing, dialing, filing); sitting/standing/stooping; ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
