Reporting to the Senior PR Manager, consumers & students, this individual will develop and execute integrated external communications for sustainability, philanthropy, and diversity and inclusion functions. Efforts will largely focus around leveraging content from our sustainability and diversity programs to grow positive awareness and understanding of the brand to reach the next generation of customers, including millennials and Gen Z.
The candidate will coordinate and collaborate with a variety of constituents, including the PR team worldwide, the Sustainability & Foundation group, HR and our diversity & inclusion lead, social media teams, and U.S. PR agency of record. This position is well-suited to an energetic self-starter, who can develop big-picture communications strategies, and thrives at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Sr. PR manager and consumer & education PR specialist to contribute to, and build upon, external communications plans that grow positive awareness and understanding of the brand to reach the next generation of customers;
Partner with the sustainability & Foundation marketing leads, and HR and diversity & inclusion stakeholders to pull together content that will drive further momentum against sustainability, diversity, and next generation customer communications goals;
Keep up-to-date with emerging media trends and non-traditional media channels and introduce and embrace new media channels to maximize earned, owned or paid coverage;
Assist in securing features, stories, and appearances in national, regional, and local media outlets in print, web-based, and broadcast that elevates the brand awareness of the company;
Collaborate closely with the social media team to develop strategy and present unified messages on company channels;
Supervise agency partners, and team with colleagues to reach communications goals;
Produce different types of high quality content such as messaging, news announcements, social media content including videos or podcasts, media presentations, contributed articles, and influencer events;
Lead media events providing day to day management of pivotal co-marketing events and media outreach;
Draft and edit press and other influencer materials as required;
Measure and report progress against goals;
Build and maintain close relationships with key U.S. press, bloggers, influencers, and advocates.
3-5 years experience required, ideally in sustainability or corporate PR;
Strong writing and positioning skills for all press materials, including introducing innovative media formats;
Relationships with press, analysts, or other industry influencers and proven ability to forge new relationships;
Proven and documented accomplishment in the development and execution of sustainability and/or corporate public relations programs;
Has a solid understanding of channel benefits and options, including emerging media and deliberately selects the most beneficial channel mix depending on audience and desired outcomes;
Excellent verbal communication and diplomacy skills;
Ability to be flexible, pro-active, work under deadlines, and ensure quality and accuracy;
Highly-organized with excellent attention to detail;
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and grace under pressure;
Focused and performance driven;
Four-year college degree (BS or BA), preferably in communications or journalism;
Occasional travel required.
