We in the WA office of Randstad Technologies & Embedded Engineering are looking for an Electrical Component Engineer for one of our clients in the greater Seattle area.

This engineer will be responsible for our client s electronic component library and will be the focal point for any changes to electronic parts used in our products. The Component Engineer will handle requests from contract manufacturers for substitutions and additions driven by component obsolescence, excessive lead time, or cost reduction. In addition, the Component Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the electronic component library database to ensure its accuracy and compatibility with electrical schematic, printed circuit board layout, and product lifecycle management software tools.


  • Ability to read and understand electronic component datasheets

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics

  • Ability to design and test simple electronic circuits and systems

  • Understanding of IPC standards and DfX as it pertains to components

  • Highly detail-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • In-depth understanding of PCB manufacturing, assembly, and the New Product Introduction process


  • IPC CID or CID+ certified


  • 1-3 years of experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools; Altium and Cadence experience preferred

  • Experience with product lifecycle management tools; Arena experience preferred

  • Proficient in MS Office software suite

  • Electrical circuit simulation and Radio Frequency electronics experience are pluses


  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or BSEET and 5-7 years of experience


  • Work with engineers and designers to develop and implement process, procedures, and revision control practices for components and libraries

  • Work with engineers and contract manufacturers to qualify alternate components

  • Build and maintain electronic component library including schematic symbols, PCB footprints and 3D CAD models

  • Process engineering change requests and engineering change orders in the product lifecycle management system
