DescriptionDuties Include:

-Performs the management functions of the Coding, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Coding Educator & Trainer and Cancer Registry functions and staff to include monitoring the scheduling of employees and assignment of workload, monitoring the productivity and quality of output. Ensures the Discharge Not final Bill (DNFB) coding completion goals are met.

-Works with Compliance and Quality to develop educational tools to improve clinical documentation and workflows to support compliant coding. Leads in the development and education of the coding staff and medical staff in relation to documentation, ICD-10, DRG validation and the PPS and OPPS Updates. Ensures quarterly reviews for regulatory compliance.

-Coordinates coding operational workflow process for MIHS and coding vendor staff to ensure timely completion and of abstracts and timely billing deadlines.

-Ensures performance planning, coaching, and evaluation of staff per HR policy

-Oversees operational and capital budget reviews to ensure proper expense reductions and financial gains. Establishes and executes coding short term and long term goals and stays within budgetary guildelines to ensure cost effectiveness.

Working hours: 8AM-5PM


-Requires knowledge of coding principles; federal, state laws, and regulatory bodies as it pertains not only to coding and health information management processes, but also Revenue Cycle Management.

-Must understand complete life cycle of healthcare industry activities and align HIM an IT development activities to optimally achieve business results.

-Must be able to quickly analyze problems and provide realistic, workable solutions.

-Requires an Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that results in the required specialized knowledge and ability to perform the assigned work in lieu of a degree.
