The Customer Support Organization (CSO) is responsible for taking care of Nest s consumer, professional, retailer, and channel partner customers with everything from pre-sales and order management questions to training and technical support.

The Consumer Community Manager reports into the Digital Support Operations (DSO) team within CSO.

Overall responsibilities:

-Work cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Business Systems to refine and maintain the vision for the Nest Consumer Community

-Perform and maintain business and technical evaluations of alternative Community platforms

-Coordinate all Community-related vendor communication, selection, contracting, and management activities

-Measure and report on Community performance while harvesting and sharing insights with other functional groups

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

-Act as lead project manager for any Community design and development initiatives involving platform, data, features, and programs

-Oversee all internal and external communications regarding the Nest Consumer Community, partnering with PR, Legal, and Marketing on approved messaging for proactive and reactive scenarios

-Devise and implement strategies to grow and foster Community participation and contribution, including community structure, special events, and incentive programs (i.e., gamification, gifting)

-Develop and execute moderation guidelines and activities to ensure positive Community experiences for all participants


-BA/BS degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or related field, or 4 years equivalent practical experience

-3+ years experience in customer service or support-related organizations

-1-2 years of hands-on community management experience

-Track record of performing technical research quickly, learning independently, and meeting accelerated deadlines consistently

-Proven ability to work as a valuable contributor to a team

-Proven ability to manage, reconcile, and incorporate input from multiple stakeholders

Nice to Have:

-1-2 years experience in a marketing role

-Systems integration and administration skills and experience

-Writing and editorial experience for a tech publication, especially for the Web

-Exposure to and comfort with consumer electronics
