The Position Mission
The Payroll Manager (Temporary) will own the payroll strategy and deliver a best-in-class payroll function, integrated with stakeholders such as benefits, finance, and accounting. This manager will lead and work alongside a team to process payroll, respond to Sfunster inquiries, manage reporting of all international, federal, state, county and local payroll taxes, and reconciles payroll accounts in accordance with SOX requirements.
Deliver accurate and on-time payroll processing in a public-company environment, including routine semi-monthly on-cycles and various off-cycles based on business need
Ensure company compliance with provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and other payroll related regulations
Deliver reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies
Responsible for ensuring routine payroll tax reconciliation is timely and accurate, including necessary agency reporting and W-2 form distribution
Ensure that payroll audit procedures are developed, including internal checks and balances as required
Ensure team responds with high degree of service excellence to payroll and tax inquiries from management, employees, and outside agencies
Partner to ensure successful completion of internal and external audits (workers comp, finance, 401K, & insurance services) and implementation of audit findings and recommendations
Identify and coordinate changes in policy and procedures governed by federal, state and local laws that affect the payroll practices

Hands on payroll processing and accounting, including bonus and benefits payments for salaried and hourly employees
Administer all payroll financial systems ensuring integrity and integration of payroll data into the appropriate financial and management reporting systems
Manage third-party vendors and maintenance of all payroll related reports, including governmental and regulatory filings
Maintain the HRIS payroll interface and payroll-related general ledger entries
Review monthly GL account entries and reconciliation related to payroll accounts
Ensure payroll tax liability account reconciliations are maintained properly
Deliver timely applications for new state registrations and tax withholdings
Serve as a key liaison during a variety of company audits
Collaborate with Tax Function on all payroll tax related matters and General Accounting related to month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process
Determine and execute solutions to daily processing issues
Extensive payroll management experience in a global, multi-state, public company environment with 1,000+ employees
Advanced understanding of general payroll practices and related IRS and State regulations necessary
Advanced system skills including HRIS (Ultimate Software specifically), time tracking, payroll systems, and stock plan reporting
Advanced excel skills (especially pivot tables and look ups)
Thorough knowledge of payroll-related state, legal, tax, and compliance requirements
Working knowledge of compensation principles
Strong leadership, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent management and organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills needed to interface and establish rapport with all levels of the organization
A proactive, high energy attitude geared towards achieving continuous improvement
