The Experience Centers team has several high-impact projects for Experience Centers on the horizon that need engineering support and development including: - Refresh of the technology and exhibits within the Dublin Foundry Space by January 2016 (including multiple exhibits and web experiences) - Development of an exhibit for the Mountain View PartnerPlex for 2017. - Maintain and refresh technology and exhibits for several global BrandLab spaces by Spring of 2016 (including maintenance of multiple exhibits and creation of web and mobile experiences) - Develop technical design and plans with technical vendors for a new Google for Work space for 2017 Experience Centers are designed as high impact spaces that facilitate sales conversations with Google s top clients and partners.

Overall responsibilities:

Under the direction of Experience Design Leads and the Technical Integration Leads, the Experience Engineers will:

  • Troubleshoot and fix existing exhibit code, both remotely and onsite during installations.

  • Port existing exhibits from older to newer versions of our internal software platform.

  • Add selected new features after installation as required by business teams.

  • Make internal Google code/APIs available to vendors for integration into exhibits.

  • Work with Google translation console and tools as necessary.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Prototype ideas for new exhibits by using/adapting internal Google code with a focus on rapid iteration and stability.

  • Partner with engineers across Google to explain the Experience Center s technical requirements and collaborate on code projects.

  • Answer vendor questions about all aspects of software development for our exhibits.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 5 or more years professional software development experience in JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and at least one of (Java, Python, or C++).

  • Experience developing software for physical installations in theme parks, museum exhibits, retail environments, the performing arts, or a similar environment, as demonstrated by a portfolio of client or personal projects.

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, producers, and business stakeholders.

  • Demonstrating outstanding verbal and written communications skills, particularly in communicating about code or technical troubleshooting.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience developing for Android.

  • Knowledge of web libraries and frameworks such as AngularJS, Polymer, and Closure.

  • Experience working with Google APIs.

  • Experience developing with physical sensors, depth cameras, or tangible interfaces.

  • Strong sense of interaction design for physical installations and attuned to the fundamentals of user experience for physical installations, including accessibility.

  • Experience developing with Raspberry Pi or Arduino

  • Experience developing in Unity 3D or similar
