The Core Shopping UX team at Google is responsible for defining the user experience for all shopping related searches on google.com. We create UIs that help our users discover, research, and purchase products they are looking for.

The Core Shopping UX team is working on an ambitious series of projects that will evolve the shopping experience on google.com. This position will work closely with our Product Managers and Engineers to design the user interface for key aspects of this experience. We're looking to temporarily augment our team with a talented Interaction Designer who can join us for a period of six months.

Overall Responsibilities:

Rapidly iterate on designs based on feedback from users and stakeholders

Collaborate with Product Management on how that vision can be implemented across a series of releases

Work with Engineering team to ensure designs are implemented to spec and collaborate with them to come up with creative design solutions when technical challenges arise

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

Develop mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas

Define an overall design direction for projects

Help define the user model and user interface for new and existing Google Shopping products

Requirements:

Minimum 5+ years experience as an Interaction Designer

Solid background in human-computer interaction or related field

Demonstrated experience in designing usable web-based interfaces (mobile, ecommerce, search)

Knowledge of HTML and JavaScript for rapid prototyping purposes

Strong interaction design skills

Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills

Nice to Have:

BA/BS Degree, preferably in an Design field

Experience working on an e-commerce website or application

Evidence of strong visual design skills
