Director of Cyber Security

KEY: Threat, Vulnerability Management side of the security is essential

-If a threat comes in how do you identify the threat?

-How do you re-mediate the threat in a timely manner?

KEY: Executive presence with the ability to talk with the executives all the way up to the CEO. Ability to speak technical when needed and non-technical when needed.


Responsible for directing a team that will implement and maintain the necessary controls and procedures to protect information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction.

Provide strategic oversight concerning all aspects of data security, including the integrity and privacy of corporate data resources made available to employees, third party providers and IT consultants through the computer systems and networks installed.

Lead Cyber Security efforts in order to detect violations and threats to the environment while protecting and securing its in-house and hosted financial services platforms.

Cyber Security supports analysis, penetration, and vulnerability testing, malware code management, IT content monitoring, and data loss prevention.


-Perform managerial functions, including but not limited to making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing staff.

-Provide ongoing vulnerability assessments of networks, and lead the development of enterprise-wide security programs in order to make recommendations for remediation and to improve overall security.

-Configure, manage and support security services in LAN, WAN, and Internet Network infrastructure, such as Security Endpoint Protection.

-Direct remediation activities warranted for escalated threat resolution events following Information Security breach procedures. Review remediation documentation as needed.

-Maintain relationships with internal clients, such as Compliance, Legal, Business Leadership, Human Resources, and Information Technology to remain up to date with standard audit and process requirements.

-Define and approve security frameworks for existing, new and upgraded Applications to ensure the vendor protects information in a secure manner.

-Define the process and tools required to manage network security. Provide technical support and consultation for the enhancement of and/or change to network configuration to minimize vulnerabilities.

-Produce critical metrics for Information Security Reporting functions.


Minimum Qualifications

-4 year degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.


Certifications: CISSP or CISA.


-15 years of experience in Cyber Security or other related Information Security field.

-5 years of managerial experience in an Information Security Management role.

-Experience in an Information Security role in one of the following: Identity Management, Threat and Vulnerability, Information Security Application Management

-Experience with security components related to multiple system platforms, operating systems, software communications and network protocols.

-Strategic and tactical analysis, consultative, decision making and communication skills.

-Communicate with business clients, IS management and staff, vendors, consultants and auditors.

-Experience in the Financial Services Industry, or other highly regulated industry.

-Knowledge of SOX, GLBA, and other regulatory requirements.


-Previous experience in an Information Security Auditor or other Compliance related role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

-Direct supervision and related management duties of the Cyber Security team (Cyber Security Analysts and Engineers).
