The Professional Services Engineer will be responsible for Customer-Oriented testing and the implementation of customer solutions for the professional services organization. This person has responsibility for the technical viability of the Tekelec Policy Management (PCRF), Subscriber Data Management (SDM), and Session Management Solutions in the customer s network.
The Professional Services Engineer will work with the sales staff, other delivery personnel, partners, and sub-contractors to successfully scope and deliver customer solutions. Key activities performed by the Professional Services Engineer will include:
Contribute to the Technical solution analysis, architecture, and design activities
Initial system implementation, network integration, system provisioning.
Test Plan creation and execution and other services as specified by the support contract and statement of work (SOW).
Execution of Migration and Database Conversion activities
Execution of Solution Performance/Optimization activities
Execution of Integration/Interoperability Testing
Service delivery activities include on-site and remote implementation of new systems, technical discussions, and explanations of proposed solutions with customers.
Work with customers to ensure technical compatibility with third party products required for "turnkey" Solution implementations.
Create and execute detailed Methods of Procedures(MOPs).
Provision and test policy rules, routing logic, and database query logic.
Support activities such as demonstrations, trials, and other customer lab activities
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and presentations skills
Knowledge & Experience of subscriber database technologies: HLR, HSS, SPR, ENUM, AAA, SDS, MySQL, Oracle, LDAP, DB query/scripting
Knowledge/experience 3G & 4G Technologies: Diameter (RFC 3588) protocol/applications/interfaces, LTE/EPC/IMS architectures
Knowledge & experience with hardware platforms and Operating Systems: Linux/Unix administrative tools, HP Rack-mount & Blade Server platforms, and open system platforms.
Knowledge & experience of data communications concepts of network architecture, TCP/IP Protocol suite, Routing, SNMP, and NTP
Knowledge & experience with the following LAN technologies: Ethernet (10/100/1000/10G), VLANs, Spanning-Tree, and switching knowledge
Preferred knowledge & experience with network management, OSS systems, Cellular & Cable technologies (PCMM, DOCSIS), IP Telephony signaling
Preferred knowledge & experience with SCTP, IPv4, IPv6
Ability to effectively deal with multiple activities and proven problem solving skills.
Willingness to travel up to 70%, for domestic and international travel
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Support other duties and responsibilities of the Design Support & Professional Services organization.
Education and Training
BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
3+ years experience in implementation of large scale service provider network infrastructures
Minimum of 2 years experience in the telecommunications industry with specialization in IMS/LTE/EPC/3GPP architectures and standards
CCNA, CCNP or equivalent IP networking certification preferred
