A Controls Engineer is needed for a leading manufacturing organization. The Control Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining reliability initiatives which pertain to the facilities E&I systems. Tasks include managing facility PLC systems, providing guidance to E&I technicians, and conducting root cause failure elimination on the facilities PLC systems. Qualified candidates must have 5+ years' of controls engineering experience within a paper mill or related industrial facility. Candidates must also be proficient with AB PLC programming. A BS degree is preferred, but not required. This is a direct hire role located in Macon, GA. Relocation is available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities for the Controls Engineer

  • Develop, maintain and troubleshooting facility control systems

  • Conduct Allen Bradley PLC programming and networking, and Wonderware plant networking

  • Monitor control system performance, which includes loop analysis and tuning

  • Drive the utilization of RCFE (Root Cause Failure Elimination) processes to identify root cause and implement correction actions to prevent recurrence: implement correction actions to prevent recurrence

  • Provide leadership and direction to EI technicians

Requirements for the Controls Engineer

  • BS in Engineering is preferred

  • Must be proficient with Allen Bradley PLC 's, PLC5 preferred

  • Understanding of systems that control AC/ DC drives is required

  • Foundational understanding of instrumentation

  • Pulp and Paper industry experience preferred, related industrial facilities will also be considered

  • Experience utilizing CMMS, preferably SAP, is desired
