This position reports to the Director of Global Engineering Performance.
The Team Capability Coach (TCC) leverages broad engineering experience in order to build and maintain organization capability in the areas of:
Engineering Design and Development - based on ISO/TS 16949
Systems and Software Development - based on Automotive SPICE (ISO 15504)
Functional Safety - based on ISO 26262
The TCC helps to build and manage the Global Engineering Process Model, covering the scope of all Systems Engineering development, including Systems, Software, Hardware, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. As direct members of the engineering project teams, the TCC provides a direct link to the Engineering Process team, and supports the projects in process tailoring, coaching, monitoring and reporting. The TCC works directly with Subject Matter Experts in order to keep global process definitions for engineering work products, project roles, activities and practices in line with the latest demands from customers and from industry standards. This includes driving the use of tools and technology to make engineering activities more effective. The TCC also supports the project teams by performing internal assessments and assisting the team in preparing for external customer audits and formal assessments.
Build and revise the engineering process model based on adherence to industry standards combined with expert-based best practices defined by Subject Matter Experts.
Drive consistent and effective utilization of the engineering process model through active participation in project activities such as Requirements Analysis, Failure-Mode Analysis (DFMEA and FTA), work-product reviews and internal quality gate reviews
Define SW quality objectives and corresponding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Compile and distribute software quality reports for customers and A123 management
Support development teams in preparing for external audits (e.g. Automotive SPICE Assessments, ISO26262 Certifications, and customer audits)
Regularly collect, evaluate and report out engineering quality related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Support business acquisition activities regarding Engineering Systems & Software Quality expectations
Lead problem resolution by applying problem solving methods (e.g. 8D, 5Why, Ishikawa)
Infrequent domestic and/or international travel
B.S. in Engineering or relevant technical field
Minimum 3 years of experience in an automotive engineering quality role
Advanced knowledge of automotive industry quality management standard practices (APQP, Automotive SPICE, ISO 26262, ISTQB)
Excellent verbal and written English skills
Very good knowledge of DFMEA, Risk Management, Problem Solving (8D, 5Why, Ishikawa)
Advanced knowledge of Review processes (Object, Milestone and Gate reviews)
Basic knowledge of Software Testing (Unit Test, Integration Test, HIL Test)
Basic knowledge of Requirements Engineering
Basic knowledge of change / configuration management
Ability to train and coach engineers
Exceptional organizational, time management and project management skills.
