Payroll Specialist - Jacksonville, FL $39-$41K
Privately held construction company based in Jacksonville looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for compiling payroll data to maintain payroll records for about 400 employees.
Payroll Specialist Job Responsibilities
Set up employee records.
Compile and enter payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.
Prepare computer input forms, data entry, and compute wages, deductions and posts to payroll records.
Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
Record changes such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.
Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
Process payroll and issues paychecks.
Print and distribute job cost, labor cost, certified and overtime reports.
Process unemployment claims, levies and garnishments.
Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
1-3 years of high volume, full-cycle payroll experience including multi-state and Union.
Proficiency with Excel, MS Office, and SAGE 300.
