Remote Project Manager

  • 1 year contract

  • Hours 8am - 5pm (on call & after hours) 5% travel

This Professional Services Senior Unified Communications & Collaboration position consists of engineering, deployment, and technical leadership within the Verizon Professional Services (PS) Unified Communications (UC) portfolio. Verizon s UC PS experts support Cisco Unified Communications product suites. For opportunities, Verizon PS focuses on planning, designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting managed deployments and other converged unified communications solutions to meet our customers needs. Additional support includes training and workshop activities, consulting services, and review of custom designs. Provide Project Management throughout the lifecycle of a project to deliver a completed product and/or service. Direct the efforts of the project team using dotted-line authority, to deliver a completed product and/or service. May direct the efforts of other project managers when they manage a sub-project over which the Project Manager has authority. Has full accountability formanaging concurrent high complexity projects. Projects may span multiple regions & functions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creates and manages project plan to deliver large, complex assignments. These projects will typically involve the development and integration of network / hardware / software solutions

  • Oversees execution of project plans that involve the development and installation of solutions that cross functional lines and/or involve the design of customized technologies. In certain cases, the solution could be routine, but the customer environment and/or delivery deadline creates significant complexity that requires a highly-seasoned manager.

  • Manager plays a key support role in project presale activity.

  • Takes an active role in ensuring that the project is delivered in a manner that maximizes the customer experience. Project Manager effectively responds to customer requests, offers options and influences customer decisions for alternative approaches.

  • Expert use of all project management tools and processes. Applies practical use of available tools, systems, and technology to manage projects efficiently.

  • Project Manager serves as a mentor for other team members in relationship building (internal/external), identifying and overcoming organizational obstacles

  • Thorough knowledge of the services and systems that affect high-end complex customers that require customized integrated solutions.

  • Manages large-scale, multiple site/technology projects including first-time applications.

  • Manages a project team (size usually greater than five.)

  • Technical complexity - complex, integrated, first-time deployment of a product or service including hybrid technologies.

  • Manages to standard or customized installation/service intervals which may involve negotiation. Escalations and/or expedites are expected.

  • Manages multiple vendors/subcontractors.

  • Carefully assesses customer expectations and balances them against capabilities throughout the project. Takes initiative to resolve conflicts where necessary.

  • Uses long-term perspective in addressing customer needs and problems. May seek to trade off immediate project costs for sake of long-term customer relationship.
