Building Automation Systems Application Engineer needed for commercial building automation integration company in their headquarters in Houston, TX. Experienced candidates must be trained in AutoCAD or visio software with preferred knowledge in building automation. Candidate will be expected to be able to interpret mechanical MEP plans/specifications and develop building automation control drawings/submittals.

Responsibilities for the Controls Engineer

  • Create the Controls Installation Drawings and the Controls Wiring Drawings from the Estimate and Contract Documents.

  • Develop the Controller, Input, Output and Device Submittals from the Estimate, Contract Documents and the Installation Drawings.

  • Establish the Project Material Requirements from the Installation and Submittal Package.

  • Establish and Maintain a project archive database provided by the Controls Technician from the As-Built information.

  • Provide technical support and customer service on controls installation, programming and graphic projects.

  • Occasionally assist or self-perform controls project start up and commissioning.

  • Candidate will, on occasion, perform troubleshooting, testing and commissioning on BMS and HVAC systems and electronics.

  • Approve parts for Project Managers

  • Ability to layout products within an HVAC or BAS control panel and provide detailed wiring diagrams.

  • Ability to make suggestions and recommendations to maintain a competitive stance in the marketplace and reduce installation times.

Requirements for the Controls Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), or 2 year Trade/Technical certification or formal trade certification

  • Minimum of 3 years experience with DDC, PLC, or similar Ladder-Logic and/or Block Style programming

  • Must be able to understand and implement industry, company and manufacturer wiring standards and practices along with reading and understanding mechanical specifications, plans, sequences, and wiring diagrams.

  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, systems, operation and sequence of operation preferred.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and VISIO or ACAD.

  • Education and certifications on various systems is desired but experience level will be considered
