Our Grand Rapids, Michigan client is seeking a Production Supervisor. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising one or more departments or areas.

  • Responsible for directing manufacturing operations to achieve on time orders and production requirements.

  • Manages the assigned area for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Efficiency.

  • Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities, preparing build schedules and outlining duties

  • Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees within your assigned department.

  • Train employees on the how to safely use machinery and tools and to accurately for procedures and schedules

  • Monitor the work of employees for quality and quantity, providing feedback and coaching when needed.

  • Recommend and assist in procedure revisions to provide improved efficiency or quality

  • Enforce company work rules and policies in a fair and equitable manner.

  • Works with teams to drive continuous improvement needs using good problem solving practices

  • Assures the administration of and compliance to the union contract within your realm of influence

  • Administers discipline as needed in conjunction with the Human Resource Department.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Associates degree in manufacturing related field of study.

  2. Two to four years of work experience in manufacturing

  3. Background in Lean Manufacturing

Skills Required

  • Experience working in a union environment

  • General business knowledge of planning, scheduling, financial, human resources and product knowledge. Manufacturing, product and machinery knowledge

  • Ability to apply problem solving skills.

  • Knowledge of safety requirements and general laws

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to apply managerial and supervisory skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Powder Coat experience a plus

  • Ability to apply lean methodology to everyday processes
