The Google Logistics team relies on data and BI solutions for all aspects of its operations including operations analysis, network design, execution management, KPI reporting and forecasting. This role requires a good combination of business acumen and technical skills used to manage a portfolio of projects. You will use your BI and data warehousing expertise to build the infrastructure to design, develop and maintain business analytics solutions for all of Google Logistics. You will help design and build Google Logistics next generation of BI visualization and execution tools. You will be part of a focused team with a goal to build reports, dashboards and tools to empower our internal and operational business users with actionable analytics.


Design, development and operational support of business intelligence data warehousing solutions in a fast paced iteration driven environment. This position will work across departments to deliver self-service BI platform, lightweight web applications and dashboards to provide business insights and decision making capability. This position will be doing the heavy-lifting of the development: table creation, SQL writing, scripting, etc.; not just a design/requirements role.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities Include:

1 Dashboard Creation (30-40%):

Working with team members to define data, metrics, look and feel. Source the right data and identify right presentation platform. Design and build ETL, write queries to pre-process data. Build dashboard in correct platform (Google Sheets, Tableau, custom). Maintain dashboards and manage visual standards, consistency.

2 Ad hoc analysis (30-40%):

Work with team members to define and deliver on-demand analysis. Vet requirements. Source applicable data, write SQL to summarize data to answer question, deliver actionable information.

Build reusable approaches.

3 Tools development (20-30%):

Build light weight tools (web apps with database backend) as working proofs of concepts to solve operational challenges.

Apps to serve as tool to execute in the near term, ultimately will serve as model for enterprise solution requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.

3-4 years of relevant experience in a similar role.

Enterprise data warehousing and executive dashboard design experience.

Strong knowledge of SQL and reporting; experience with Tableau and/or other BI tools; familiar with at least with one scripting language (Python, Go, JavaScript, Perl, Apps Script).

Strong analytical, troubleshooting and organizational skills. Strong design and development skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Outstanding collaboration, interpersonal communication. Ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Superior knowledge of SQL and reporting.

Familiar with Google Apps (Drive, Sheets, Slides, etc) and cloud technologies (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, App Engine).

Industry experience, knowledge in Supply Chain and Logistics
