Power generation client is looking for an Operations Manager to manage their plant operations at a plant just north of Clare, MI. You will be responsible for all Operations areas for this power plant. This position has high visibility and great upward mobility for your career. Our client is looking for a Leader that will put the needs of others first and help people develop and perform as highly as possible. Responsibilities for the Operations Manager

  • Responsible for the strategic direction & leadership of all operational functions, including staff and service administration

  • Oversee the daily operations of the power plant as well as monitor for efficiency and safety ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are followed

  • Set the standard for safety & integrity by adhering to all applicable safety standards, environmental standards, & treatment of employees

  • Effectively and efficiently supervise the development and direction of the Operations team to drive the growth of revenue and technical productivity

  • Responsible for O&M and major maintenance spending as well as the plants' efforts to achieve reliability & performance metrics necessary to support margin targets

  • Ensure that all departments under your direction, are compliant with all State and Federal regulations, including but not limited to OSHA and MI OSHA, inaddition to conformance with all company policies & procedures

  • Contributes towards the maintenance aspects of the O&M budget, with P&L accountability

  • Provide technical leadership in energy solutions and make suggestions for the energy consumption of the plant.

  • Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary

  • Analyze and report on the daily, monthly and annual operations of the plant

  • Work with the maintenance department on updating the Long Term Maintenance Plans to maintain facility reliability

  • Act as the Plant or Maintenance Manager during his/her absences or vacation periods

Requirements for the Operations Manager

  • 15+ years of O&M experience in a power plant environment

  • 5+ years of experience as a Shift Supervisor, Operations Manager, or O&M Manager in a power plant environment

  • Solid fundamental understanding of plant processes and equipment, including operations and maintenance

  • Our client prefers candidates that have experience managing the operations of solid fueled fired (coal, wood, waste, etc...) power plants

  • High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent

  • Must be a strong leader and experience with making & implementing changes
