DescriptionA great contract opportunity at a prestigious Boston, MA medical center! Under general supervision, the Receptionist receives visitors and patients, ascertains their needs and directs them accordingly. Handles incoming telephone calls and performs other clerical tasks as needed.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Contacts out-of-IPA primary care physicians to provide notification of the patient?s scheduled visit and to obtain the necessary referral in order to secure payment.
-Updates all future scheduled cases when any patient or insurance data is changed. Changes/updates insurance plans codes for all future scheduled cases.
-Verifies the accuracy of primary care physician data for NEHEN payers and cross-references in the Siemens system for a match. When necessary, advises patients to contact their insurance company when this data conflicts.
-Provides excellent customer service to patients; answers questions appropriate for this position; maintains a positive image of company.
-Maintains collaborative team relationships with peers throughout hospital
-Interacts with clinic staff, outside physician offices and patients to ensure timely and accurate submission of claims.
-Confirms the co-payment amount indicated in system to patients insurance card.
-Collects co-payment, log co-payment in journal, provide receipt to patient and put cash in designated location. Makes changes to co-payment amount in system if needed.
-Secures required HIPPA documentation from patient.
-Provides MSPQ form to all Medicate Patients; obtains from patient when complete; submit all completed forms to the walk-in center. Enters Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaire data appropriately including the detail obtained via the patient telephone interview.
-Secures assignment of benefits from patients as needed.
-Performs daily co-payment reconciliation.
-May perform other job related duties as required or requested.

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
-Strong customer service skills including excellent interpersonal and telephone skills. High degree of tact is necessary due to frequent interaction with patients, physicians and insurance companies.
-Thorough knowledge and understanding of health care delivery systems with special emphasis on the referral management process for managed care providers.
-Thorough understanding of Medicare and Medicaid programs with the ability to identify primary payers.
-Ability to perform accurate data entry with basic word-processing skills.
-Excellent organizational skills required with attention to detail. Ability to prioritize work and be flexible with work assignments.
-Bilingual skills preferred.
High-School diploma with 1-2 years of training in business office skills
1-2 years medical office experience.
