Website Developer and Content Manager

Bethesda, MD

5-6 month contract

Our client is looking for someone to temporarily work with their Online/Web Developer approximately 20-30 hours per week from November 2016 - April 2017.The temporary website developer and content manager will primarily (if not exclusively) work from the client office located in Bethesda, Maryland. The position involves a wide array of skills and responsibilities related to the organization s web presence, with an emphasis on design and maintenance, and serving as a principal interface with internal staff, members and external contractors.

Duties include:

  • Technically maintaining the association s websites and developing web page infrastructure and applications related to pages with appropriate images, video files, audio files, and other interactive, rich media features

  • Supporting the Marketing and Communications team to create bi-weekly e-news graphic materials and producing solutions for outreach needs: print ads per specifications, html ads per specs; rich media messages and cards, etc.

  • Working closely with program staff to ensure that sites are appropriately updated, dynamic, and user-friendly, and that they conform to standards of usability and accessibility

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the DRUPAL content management system

  • Strong web design skills that include the ability to edit HTML/CSS and JavaScript

  • Working knowledge of website development and design tools including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Flash, Photo and video Editing software and InDesign

  • Advanced technical aptitude and knowledge of web technologies, software, and graphics applications and techniques preferably at a nonprofit or membership association

  • Strong interpersonal skills for working productively on design and content with external contractors, staff (especially content-generating teams), association leadership, and members
