QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST contract opportunity at a highly regarded manufacturing firm in Plymouth, MI. Projected 6+ month contract assignment. Local candidates.

Responsibilities for the Quality Assurance Engineer

  • Responsible for the technical management of assigned commodities in the Supply Chain, including supporting the supplier selection process, the introduction of new products to the supply base, managing change control in the supply base, distribution and interpretation of specifications and drawings, and assurance that all requirements are met by the supplier

  • Lead PPAP and APQP process for suppliers, review and approve PPAP's on a timely basis, and maintain PPAP submissions records , schedule and conduct supplier visits for initial PPAP's and ongoing reviews.

  • Conduct reviews to ensure both internal and external key quality milestones are met Responsible for defining and monitoring incoming quality inspection requirements and supporting incoming inspection

  • Establish and/or maintains a system of metrics to continually monitor measurable supplier performance Maintains regular visits and/or communication with suppliers to address and resolve any quality, process or quality issues

  • Facilitate and motivate the cross-functional product, customer and supplier teams to identify root cause(s) and implement corrective actions with the goal of reducing warranty returns and Drive corrective action with suppliers and leads problem solving activities with internal and external customers

Requirements for the Quality Assurance Engineer

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience

  • 5 years Quality experience in an automotive manufacturing or supplier environment

  • Requires Quality specific knowledge- AIAG, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA , QS9000, TS16949 / ISO14001 OSHAS 18001, IMDS

  • Strong statistical analysis skills

  • Familiar with ISO/TS16949 quality & ISO 14000 requirements and procedures
