Randstad North America is looking for a Workers Compensation Claims Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be career minded, highly motivated, & customer service oriented. Direct responsibility for management of workers compensation claims. This position will assist in the daily reporting, managing, investigating, and closing of workers compensation claims for Randstad. Daily interaction with field staff, attorney s, and Third-Party Administrator.

Mentor/lead field staff; implement and manage claims strategy to achieve agreed end result


Freedom to act/Accountability:

  • Guidance given: Assignments are received in objective oriented terms. Workers Compensation claims are received as reported by field and injured worker. Provides oversight, guidance, and interacts with TPA and field staff to meet organizational goals and company policy. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organization s objectives and schedules

Direct Work Involvement/Complexity:

  • Administer workers compensation claims

  • Manage the daily activity on all assigned claims. Direct reporting and investigation of claim, filing with Third-Party Administrator, and claim management plan of action.

  • Manage the claim costs by implementing organization s claims processes and daily monitoring of claims. Manage and direct the use of litigation, surveillance and investigation on claims.

  • Prepare for and participate in file audit and claim reviews

  • Identifies, manages and communicates significant claim exposures

  • Monthly update on all claims assigned

  • Proactively determine whether a claim is compensable under workers compensation

  • Maintains knowledge of current workers compensation laws and their effect on our corporation and insurance program

  • Maintain documentation for SOX requirements


  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in critical delays and claim plan of action; cause substantial expenditure of time, human resources, and funds; and jeopardize future business activity


  • Frequent contact with equivalent level inter-organizational managers, field staff, and customer representatives concerning workers; compensation claims

  • Works with field Safety Managers/Supervisors in gathering critical claim investigative information

  • Respond to any requests by the field for assistance and updates on claims

  • Conducts appropriate and comprehensive training programs for field associates/licensees

  • Establishment of working relationship with third-party administrator, broker, insurance company and claim vendors

  • Conduct quarterly claim reviews with third party administrators (TPA)


High school diploma or equivalent required


Minimum of 3-5 years verifiable experience working in a fast-paced, customer-service oriented, team-based, interactive environment. Experience in overseeing workers compensation claims required.


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Strong customer focus and customer service skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated experience managing large case loads, complex accounts or projects

  • Experience describing and documenting project or claims notes

  • Must be detailed oriented with a concern for quality

  • Must be a team player

  • Possesses interpersonal and mentoring skills

  • May be responsible for a specific area of specialization
