We are seeking a Solar Thermomechanical Design Engineer to perform thermal and mechanical modeling and design of solar panel structures, solar array subcomponents, and ground support equipment. The Solar Thermomechanical Design Engineer will support the transition of processes and products from an R&D environment to volume manufacturing. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package and relocation assistance to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Responsibilities for the Thermal Engineer
Perform thermal modeling to predict thermal environments, operational temperatures, simulating effects of temperature, power input, thermal expansion and contraction, and material stresses within solar array assemblies.
Perform mechanical modeling to simulate effects of static and dynamic loads on solar array assemblies, solar array panels, and components, related to interfacing with ground support equipment.
Develop, implement, and improve processes for performing solar cell integration.
Evaluate appropriate materials and design experiments for integration with the purpose of improving performance and efficiency in manufacturing.
Requirements for the Thermal Engineer
Bachelor s Degree or higher in Engineering or related field.
3 years of experience in thermal and mechanical modeling of materials and structures.
